Furry Tails Board of Directors – Join our board!

Furry Tails of Oaxaca is a U.S. 501 (c) (3) non-profit that works with local organizations to reduce the population and suffering of dogs and cats in the state of Oaxaca, México. We are currently filling two seats on our board – treasurer and an at-large position.

Shortly after forming in 2022, the board met with several local animal welfare organizations and determined that fundraising to provide free or low-cost sterilizations (spaying and neutering) would be central to our mission. Since the first free sterilization campaign in September 2022, we have raised funds to cover the costs of sterilizing more than 3,000 cats and dogs and helped more than 1,700 families.

As the organization continues building momentum, we seek two board candidates who are equally passionate about helping to reduce the population of street animals and providing families and communities with free access to sterilizations for the animals that they care for.

Board of Directors Overview

Furry Tails of Oaxaca is currently run by a volunteer board whose directors live in Oaxaca either full or part-time. Though we each have come to Furry Tails from different backgrounds, we are bound by our love for animals and a passion to improve their lives. Our work as board directors includes both planning and strategizing fundraising avenues, building community connections, and working with our partners, attending sterilization campaigns and street animal projects. When we volunteer at the sterilization campaigns, we see first-hand how great the need is for families and communities to have access to free sterilizations for dogs and cats. In addition to the sterilization campaigns, we fund special projects to sterilize street dogs and cats on site. We are gratified that our work means street animals won’t have to endure having puppies or kittens while trying to survive on the street and that there will be less abandoning of animals. This is a great opportunity to help animals and immerse in Oaxaca culture!
